Procedures for Teachers
- All items borrowed from the library must be checked out. Please return them to the library when you are finished. If another teacher wants an item, let me know and I will put his/her name on the item and hold it for pick up on the second shelf with their name on it.
- Each teacher may have 50 items (including equipment) at a time from the library. Materials (not including equipment) should be returned at the end of each grading period. I will periodically put a list of checked out books in your mailbox to remind you of what you have out.
- If you are checking out numerous books and I am busy or not available, please choose your books, put your name on the stack, and return later to pick them up. They will be located on the second shelf of the return cart, marked with your name and READY.
- PLEASE respect library instructional time and class time! Please use the library between classes, my schedule is posted outside my room. Best way to contact me for anything you need is to send me an email at [email protected]. You can send a note with a student, but I may lose the note if I am in the middle of teaching a class and that will delay your request. Please allow 1 or 2 days for me to fulfill your request.
- Please limit your books from the same author or series to three unless you are doing an author study.
- If you check out all of the books on a particular subject, and it is needed by other teachers, please share. I will let them know who has the items and suggest to them to find you. If it becomes a problem, I will limit checkout of all the books on one subject to one teacher.
- Book sets must be checked out. Count all books before turning them in to the library. If there are damaged books, place them on top with a note. I will try to repair them or get them replaced.
- Cards on the manipulatives must be completed and turned in at the circulation desk. If an item does not have a card, one will be made.
- If I am not in the library, please put your name, title of the book or item, and the barcode number on the black 'Check Out' folder at circulation desk. I will check the items out to you.
- I am happy to locate items for you. Please send me an email at [email protected] and I will pull the items quickly (sometimes less than a day) and place them on the second shelf of the return cart with your name and READY on them.
- If your students need books for a special project, let me know a day ahead, so I can assist your students during their library time.
- If you have items on hold, pick the up as soon as possible. Please remember to return items in a timely manner so others may enjoy them. All items borrowed are your responsibility.
- The technology available has changed with the merger with Memphis City Schools. We are no longer supported by the district’s IT to fix document cameras and projectors. It is now a school based responsibility to outsource the repair of these items. Fixing these items is beyond my expertise.
